CURRICULUM
UCA uses the Georgia Performance Standards to determine the
benchmarks to be covered throughput the school year. Our teachers incorporate a collaborative model to teacher to
each child's ability. The parents
and students are given bi-weekly progress report to monitors a child's ability.
Testing
UCA
will be assessed using the following assessments, ITBS, CRCT, 3rd, 5th , &
8th Grade writing assessment. Georgia’s
performance-based writing assessments are administered to students in grades
three, five, eight, and eleven. Student writing samples are evaluated on an
analytic scoring system in all grades to provide diagnostic feedback to
teachers, students, and parents about individual performance. The writing
assessments provide information to students about their writing performance and
areas of strength and challenge. This information is useful for instruction and
preparation for future writing assessments.
The CRCT is designed to measure how well students acquire the
skills and knowledge described in the Georgia Performance Standards (GPS). The
assessments yield information on academic achievement at the student, class,
school, system, and state levels. This information is used to diagnose
individual student strengths and weaknesses as related to the instruction of
the GPS, and to gauge the quality of education throughout Georgia.
What content areas and grade levels are tested?
Georgia law, as amended by the A+ Education Reform Act of 2000,
requires that all students in grades one through eight take the CRCT in the
content areas of reading, English/language arts, and mathematics. Students in
grades three through eight are also assessed in science and social studies. The
CRCT only assesses the content standards outlined in the GPS.
